Make every (Valentine's) Day-Rosé Day

In their recent Valentine’s Day newsletter, our friends at VinePair asked the question “Why isn’t there an official Valentine’s Day drink?” While we love everything about VinePair the answer to this question seemed like a no brainer. In a month adorned with the pink and red, the obvious answer is Rosé wine!

You may be asking yourself “but isn’t Rosé a “summer beverage?” Well, if you ask your Millennial friends, they would say they adore Rosé year-round due it great taste, affordable price, and how pretty it looks on social media. This admiration of Rosé is causing it to overtake Champaign as the drink of celebration, but it’s relatively inexpensive cost makes it easy to celebrate every day!  While we (especially Tina) would consider Rosé a year-round wine, even the skeptical can see why Rosé with its lovely pink hue should be the drink served on the official “day of love.”

If you are unfamiliar with the product, VinePair has excellent articles about Rosé production as well as how it is become the Millennial drink of choice. You can find the production article (here) and the Millennial article (here).

We certainly are fond of the Rosés from our partners. If you are interested in purchasing a bottle or two please let us know. You can find the list (along with other “pink” options below):

·         Angels Gate - Angels Share Rosé: This is a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.  It is a drier style at about 5g/L RS.  The nose is fresh berries and a hint of orange peel.  Nice weight and acidity making it a good food companion.  Very limited production.

·         Megalomaniac - Bubblehead Pinot Noir: After spending two years on lees this pink bubbly is delicate and perfect for any occasion.

·         Megalomaniac-Pink Slip: This blend of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Gamay and Merlot is not bone-dry but not off-dry either is delivers wonderful ripe fruit flavours. 4gm/L

·         Southbrook Organic Winery - Triomphe Cabernet Franc Rosé: This Organic and Vegan medium coloured pink Rose has fresh strawberry, rhubarb, white peach and a citrus high note on the nose.  The palate presents as red raspberry with a fresh acidity.

·         The Good Earth Winery - Aria Sparkling Rosé: This Pinot Noir/Chardonnay blend has aromas of fresh field berries and the palate has a delicate mousse with the fine bubbles highlighting flavours of orange blossom, rose petals and lemon drop. 11g/L

·         The Hare Wine Co. - Jack Rabbit Rosé: 100% Cabernet Franc Rose has lively red berry flavours and a refreshing finish.

·         Ironwood Cider - Tart Cherry: Crafted from local Montmorency cherries and the classic apple, this features a commanding hit of tart cherry flavour and a bright lingering finish.  70% Cherry and 30% Apple

·         Ironwood Cider-Strawberry Ciderita: Scents of fresh squeezed lime juice and strawberries make this a quenchable and easy drinking, light cider.

Finally, if you live in the London, Ontario area there is a massive Rosé event on June 13, 2020 called The Rosé Party. This festival celebrates all things Rosé and is a must for any Rosé fans no matter what time of year they decide to drink it.

Rosé All Day to Y’All !
