Gooooooooal! Cheers to a Red, White, and Brew summer of soccer.

Though soccer might not be Canada’s favorite sport, this is the summer for both the passionate supporter and the “football” novice to get excited about the game. It all starts on Saturday July 10, when South American powerhouses Argentina and Brazil play in the final for the COPA America Championship. This may be Leo Messi’s last chance to win a major championship in his stellar career.

On Sunday July 11, it’s England’s turn to try for their first major trophy since 1966 at the European Championship. It is going to a tough match against Italy, who will be going for their first Euro victory since 1968.

Then it is our turn! Canada’s men’s national team goes for their second ever Gold Cup title. Lead by two outstanding young players, Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David, the team has their best chance to win the tournament since 2000. To add to the excitement, our archrivals, The United States, is in our group.

Last, but certainly not least, the Summer Olympics, start on July 23. While we will be cheering on all of Canada’s Olympic athletes, we at InSpiirit, will be paying the most attention to the women’s soccer tournament. With two bronze medals to their credit, this years’ Canadian team has a great chance for an even better result. Christine Sinclair, Janine Beckie, and London, Ontario’s own Jessie Fleming, will have their sights on gold!

The best way to watch all the soccer action this summer is with a beverage or two and we have you covered.

For anyone cheering for teams sporting red and white we have plenty of options to match your favorite teams.

Our White wine summer options include:  Southbrook Connect Organic White $15.75

Megalomaniac Outspoken Unoaked Chardonnay $18.95

Brightwater Nelson Sauvignon Blanc $23.45

Our Red wine summer options include:  Le Messenger Syrah $18.45

Kiara Merlot from California $27.45

If brew is your preferred option, our Exchange Amber has a fantastic ruby hue that is reminiscent to the English cask ales that will certainly be flowing during the European final.

Another great option is our Ironwood dry cider which is similar to the ciders found in pubs across England.

Finally, for those that will be supporting the teams in blue, our amazing Exchange Gose, comes in a lovely blue can that matches well with any “kit” you will be wearing throughout this amazing summer of soccer!
